I took a trip (with the help of my free bus pass!) to Highfields Park – next to Nottingham University Park – this afternoon. My birdwatching neighbour had sent me a photo of nuthatch at what looked like a nest-hole in one of the ash trees. I was pleased to be able to find it quite easily. It looks as if he (or she) is adapting a woodpecker hole with the aid of beaks full of mud. You can see some of the construction inside the hole.
Amazing! Really good photos Ray. The birds are wonderful too with their high standards of nest building – only the best will do. God bless them. Enid
