I know they are common, even too numerous, but I thought this shot of a Canada geese with their brood feeding on the mudflats at ANR was worth blogging. I noticed that at least one of the parents was always ‘up periscope’ keeping watch. I’ve also observed this behaviour when the broods are merged into larger creches.
It we saw coot and moorhen with nest repairing material, possibly a consequence of the heavy rain we had today and I managed a glimpse of a kingfisher flashing over the river.
