This morning (Sat 18th) I spent a couple of hours at ANR. Looking at some cootlets(?) I noticed what I thought was a pied wagtail along the shoreline. It turned out to be a grey wagtail – there were actually two.
This may be a youngster as it lacks much of the yellow colouring I would expect or perhaps they moult at this time of year.
I couldn’t resist taking another look at the kestrel family and managed to get this shot of one of them coming into land with its shadow clearly visible on the roof of the nest box.
