When the sun came out on our island holiday so did the butterflies. In addition to the ones pictured below we saw meadow brown, speckled wood, gatekeeper, peacock and red admiral butterflies.
It is not easy to distinguish between different ‘blues’ but I think this is a silver studded blue. Correction – I am informed that it is actually a female common blue.
…… and this is (probably) a holly blue.
A painted lady enjoys ragwort.
A rare spot of a small copper butterfly.
Finally a totally new one to me. This is a wall butterfly.
