Today I revisited this Yorkshire Wildlife Trust site near Doncaster. It was a bit of a grey day so I didn’t expect to see a great deal. I did hear a bittern booming but no sighting. Pochards were very much in evidence.
Some wag had written ‘Flying Scotsman’ in the sightings book for Thursday – the East Coast Mainline passes close to the site. If it had been ‘Bittern’ or ‘Mallard’ (also designed by Sir Nigel Gresley) it would have made more sense!
Among the small birds on the feeders was this willow tit.
I couldn’t resist photographing this handsome jackdaw.
