A ‘Ruff’ day at RSPB Old Moor reserve

RSPB Old Moor (near Barnsley) is one of my favourite places. My £3.50 (OAP rate!) was good value as among all the usual finches, tits, lapwings, ducks and geese I had good views of black tailed godwit, sandpiper (green and common), snipe, golden plover, kingfisher, linnets, buzzard and marsh harrier.

The clearest pictures, however, were of a small group of ruff. As far as I can tell they were all female. These are all views of the same bird as it came closest in good light.
