This female great spotted woodpecker visited our garden today.

She was pecking all over the apple tree for quite a few minutes – I think looking for food rather than a nest site. You can she’s female because there’s no red on her head.

Some birds were queueing up to take a bath.

Afterthought. A flock of long tailed tits passed through the next day – This is one that pause for a snack on the sunflower hearts.
