I know there has been a bit of a theme developing over the last weeks with me sharing pictures of small birds in colourful settings (some of which featured in our local Beeston Express!) but I could not resist sharing this tree sparrow illuminated in soft sun-light this afternoon.
The tree sparrow is distinguished from the house sparrow by its chocolate coloured cap and white cheeks with black spots. It is not common but Attenborough and Rutland Water have good populations.
