After taking a walk down ANR this afternoon (followed by a cuppa in the cafe) we decided to join others viewing the gathering (murmuration) of starlings prior to roosting at dusk in the reed bed in front of the Tower Hide. Dusk is not ideal for photography but I’ve included a few shots after tweaking them a bit to compensate for the poor light. It was a memorable experience that I recommend seeing in the ‘flesh’. We were there from about 4:15 to 4:55 but it will vary as the sun sets later.
The strange creature at the bottom of the second picture is not the ‘creature from the black lagoon’ but the hat worn by another observer. The ‘eyes’ are twin pompoms!
