Leucistic Cormorant

I expect that title has got you guessing but I think it is the correct description for the unusual white colouring on this cormorant I saw at ANR yesterday.


They often have some white on them but this amount is unusual. It gives it a bit of a punk appearance don’t you think.


There was a report of a lesser spotted woodpecker – which I have yet to spot (no pun intended?!*) – but I was pleased to get this nicely illuminated shot of a tree sparrow in the garden behind the Visitor Centre.

Here’s hoping for some more illumination from that big shiny ball in the sky currently hiding behind a dull grey veil.
