We had a cheap (free bus pass!) day out at Wollaton Park today. On entering the park via a tree lined drive we saw several small birds but this fluffy nuthatch topped the bill.
We saw male & female black-caps but only managed to photograph the male.
The female is similar but has a rusty red rather than black cap.
Finally we were surprised to see a heronry on the island in the lake.
I counted about eight nests and what looked like a large number of youngsters.
On Saturday (22nd) caught this great tit having a sunbathe in the garden.
