Ringed Plover

The highlight of my walk down ANR this morning (03/07) was the sight of several ringed plovers. I’m not sure if they were little ringed plovers – which are characterised by a distinct golden ring around the eye – as my views were not that clear – and I might have been viewing juveniles.

I also saw a black tailed godwit, a kestrel and a buzzard as well as several whitethroats but I was surprised to see a couple of bright yellow mallard ducklings which I have not observed before. The one in the middle is more the colouring I would expect.
