A lovely warm, calm and bright day pulled me again to my favourite nature reserve. Dragon flies buzzed around like little helicopters refusing to be photographed contrasting with a buzzard circling high being harassed by a brave crow. Huge flocks of starlings were stripping the brambles and elders. A number of green sandpipers were on view from the Kingfisher Hide as well as this black tailed godwit.
I was pleased to get a close view of a group of young red crested pochard near the Visitor Centre. I think these are males judging by the red bill but they lack the red crest plumage that is so spectacular in the adult drake.
