Despite it being blustery yesterday (Sat 21st) it was sunny on occasion so I had good views of the winter visitors that are beginning to arrive – notably wigeon and shoveller ducks. I had a brief view of a kingfisher but a heron and some lapwings posed for me.
A heron that could be described as ‘undecided’ as it is ‘sitting on the fence’ and forming a question mark with its head and neck (ha ha ….). Note the ID rings.
A lapwing among others in the shallows near the level crossing sheltered from the wind.
