Highfields Highlights

Despite the dull conditions I was determined to get my wildlife fix yesterday (Oct 26th) with a walk around the university park.

I was pleasantly surprised to  see a group of about 10 shoveller ducks doing their thing sifting edible stuff from the surface. Shovellers are winter visitors to our region.

This great crested grebe is either a juvenile or adult in winter plumage. I was pleased with the texture created by a combination of ripples and reflections on the water.

The colours of autumn make a pleasing background to this shot of a crow in a tree.
