I took advantage of the bright conditions and braved the cold wind to check up on the bird-life of Attenborough Nature Reserve this morning (23/11). I was first rewarded with better views of goosanders (female on the left) ……….
………………and my first view this winter of a goldeneye.
I was delighted to gets some close views of a mistle thrush feasting in a hawthorn bush along with a couple of blackbirds.
I had fleeting views of a flock of redwing so that only leaves fieldfares to complete the set of migratory thrushes. Watch this space!
PS Just as I got home I spotted this female bullfinch resting between feeds on the apple tree – another first for the year. PPS The 2nd image was taken the next day.
