Not being a big fan of the current heatwave I took an early tram to Highfields this morning – before I could use my free bus pass – to see what was in and around the boating lake. There were a lot of young coots at various stages of development and I had sight of a treecreeper as well as the usual ducks and geese but a swan family with seven cygnets proved to be the most photogenic. It was lovely to see how both parent birds were shepherding their brood and helping them to feed.
