After the fog cleared earlier today (Jan 31st) a flurry of small birds came into the garden looking for something to eat. This was the first sighting of any green-finches this month (4) in addition to goldfinches, starlings, blue, great and coal tits, dunnocks, blackbirds and, the second visit this month of a male blackcap. This species is normally a spring migrant – one of the warblers – but some are resident like this one. I hope he finds a mate as I have never seen a female in the garden.
