A chilly walk around Nottingham University Park (Highfields) this morning (9th April) gave me close views of two kinds of ‘red’ ducks
This is one of two Ruddy Shellducks I saw. It is not a common species so I was pleased to see two of them. Maybe they are a pair.
The Drake Red Crested Pochard is a magnificent bird but the female, like most ducks is less colourful to make her less visible when sitting on eggs.
Added to sight of a Mistle Thrush elsewhere in the Park and a female Bullfinch in the garden this morning it’s not been a bad birding day.
