My Good Friday walk around Attenborough gave me my first ever sighting of a Greater Scaup. I had heard one was around but I had to have it pointed out to me as it is very similar to the male tufted duck (3rd image below). The Scaup is somewhat bigger and its head is green as well as having lighter plumage over its back.
Tufted Duck – note the prominent tuft from which it gets its name.
The other rare duck was a Garganey, actually a pair. I have seen one before but not at Attenborough

The bonus bird for this final posting from Good Friday is an Oyster Catcher. I have never seen one with an oyster but I did see one tackling a mussel last year.
