A couple of young kestrels hanging around the box in which I think they were hatched provided the best spot of my excursion to ANR today.

The one in the doorway is a male, as seen by its grey head, and the other one, having a brown head, is a female. I managed a couple of individual shots as they took other positions.


Other spots included a flight of three swans in the air and a green woodpecker having a good time probing the waterlogged turf for (presumably) ants – hence the muddy bill.
