Had my first ever view of Cattle Egrets at Attenborough Nature Reserve today. Two were feeding in the Erewash Field along with some Little Egrets. Appropriately cattle were also in the field, huddled together for warmth by the fence.

Later addition – A Cattle Egret with a Little Egret highlighting the differences and similarities.

A Buzzard was keeping watch over them for most of the time I was there.

Distant views of a rare Slovenian Grebe meant that I had two lifetime firsts in a single day today.
