Had a chilly visit to ANR today (27th) including a walk along the Wet Marsh path, which for the most part was mud free (see below). The wind was keeping most of the small birds in shelter but I managed to tempt a couple of them onto my hand for some free food.

This great tit looked in good condition judging by its glossy head feathers.
This robin didn’t need much encouragement to tuck in to some sunflower hearts.
I visited the site of the tree creeper nest but it was nowhere to be seen. I hope the attention of multiple birdwatchers hasn’t caused it to abandon the nest. The lone male NTU peregrine is spasmodically sitting on the two eggs laid by his deceased partner. I don’t hold out much hope for successful breeding this year.
